Graham H. Childress – Rancher

Rancher, philanthropist, descendant of George C. Childress, credited with being the author of the Texas Declaration of Independence in 1836.

In 1967 Graham became a rancher in Terrell County and active in his church and community affairs. He served as a county commissioner for twelve years and he has served on the Terrell County Appraisal District Board of Directors and continues to serve as a director of the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association.

He owns the Block Y Ranch in Ozona, TX and participates in national championship chuck wagon cook offs in Texas as well as bringing his chuck wagon to the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District yearly for Forts Muster and Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering as well as attending the annual National Cowboy Symposium and Celebration…sharing the story of the old west and the chuck wagon history. Graham H. Childress was installed as Grand Master of The Grand Lodge of Texas in 1988.
